After breakfast we will venture to Bath Healing Mineral Springs, in the town of Bath. This small Jamaican town host the islands oldest Botanical garden and a natural healing spring. Naturopathic healers, herbalists and other health conscious individuals have for ages extolled the healing wonders of water, specifically mineral water.
Civilizations as far back as the ancient Egyptians believed that various ailments can be cured by soaking for several minutes… or even hours, in water that has just the right temperature and combination of mineral elements.
Bath Mineral Spring is rich in magnesium, sulfur and lime, and consists of two springs flowing through the rocks on bamboo pipes. One of these springs is piping hot, while the other is cold.
According to legend, the spring was discovered in the 17th century by a runaway enslaved African , who had been plagued for years by ulcers on his foot.
He bathed his aching feet in the stream and noticed, the next day, that it began to heal. News of this healing fountain soon spread, attracting visitors from all over Jamaica.
After our morning routine: Yoga, meditation, indulging in organic nutritious food and fruits, we will venture out to the Rio Grande river where we will participate in the age-old tradition of rafting down the river!
Rio Grande River Rafting began out of necessity, where bamboo rafts were originally used to transport produce, especially bananas from the interior of the parish to the coast for export. Rafting was then popularized for fun, and soon it become one of the major attractions of Port Antonio to date.
The tour begins with a scenic drive from Heaven Villa, where your driver true to the tour guide that he is, will point out local points of interest along the way. Your driver will deliver you to your highly skilled and licensed Raft Captain, then wait for your arrival to “Rafters Rest” after your 2 - 3 hour excursion.
Your Captain will pole you down the river while you relax and absorb the beauty and allure of this lifeline to Port Antonio. On the raft, you lazily make your way through a lush valley, with wildlife on either side peeping out to say hello. The view is intoxicating and immensely relaxing as the beauty and allure of the glorious Rio Grande unfolds.
Lunch will be prepared for us along the river!!
Today is the day for some deep rest and relaxation. I am talking deep tissue massages, manicures and pedicures, guided meditations...The works! Or if you choose, you may have a free day to yourself to lounge on the beach or visit the local market place.
After we relax, we will enjoy an in-house workshop on spiritual herbalism. Our guest speaker will demonstrate how to choose and use local herbs ( found in the Caribbean & Bermuda) that everyone should incorporate in their everyday lives. This workshop will be followed by a tea tasting and homemade cocoa ceremony.
